Одно из кладбищ Александро-Невской лавры, Некрополь мастеров искусств. Заложено в 1823 г. в виду переполненности Лазаревского кладбища. Современное название получило в 1876 г. по построенной здесь церкви-усыпальницы во имя чудотворной иконы Тихвинской Божией Матери. На Тихвинском кладбище хоронили величайших деятелей русской музыки, литературы, изобразительного и театрального искусства XIX в., на их могилах ставили мемориальные памятники. В 1932 г. было принято решение о создании музея-некрополя мастеров искусств.

Tikhvinskoye Cemetery

One of the Saint Alexander Nevsky Lavra (Monastery) cemeteries, Necropolis of the Masters of Arts. It was founded in 1823 because St. Lazarus Cemetery became overcrowded. It received its modern name in 1876 when a Sepulchre Church of the Tikhvin Icon of the Virgin was constructed here. The most outstanding figures in XIX century Russian musical, literary, artistic and theatrical scene were buried here, and their graves were adorned with memorial tombs. In 1932, it was decided to found a necropolis museum of the masters of art in Tikhvin Cemetery.
